- Title
Utility analysis for the probationary selection decision to obtain a fixed quota of successful selectees.
- Abstract
The articles presents an analytical study on the probationary selection decision to obtain a fixed quota of successful selectees. This article presents the extension of the one-cohort probationary selection (OCPS) framework to a multiple cohort model and shows how the extension can be applied to estimate the utility of probationary selection with replacement (PSWR) when a fixed quota of successfully performing selectees is required. It was investigated whether the PSWR and the OCPS models produce different results from the traditional utility model when the latter framework is used to estimate the utility of a fixed quota of successful employees decision. There are certain limitations like the estimation of the model input parameters and the validity of the assumptions on which the model is based. As compared to the OCPS approach, the PSWR scenario invokes one additional assumption in that it is also required that each of the replacement selections is characterized by the same selection ratio. The present framework can be applied to a wider range of selection decision problems.
