Title
Zoology: Whiff of danger.
Abstract
The article discusses a study by Timothy Roth and colleagues at Indiana State University investigating the ability of birds to smell predators. Roth and his colleagues enclosed wild finches, Carpodacus mexicanus, in a unit with a ventilation system to test whether or not the birds could smell faecal odors. The finches spent less time feeding when the the faecal scent of a cat was introduced.
