- Title
Neuroscience: Neighbourly synapses.

Sabatini, Bernardo L.
- Abstract
The article discusses the important functions of neuronal plasticity. It relates that this process describes experience-related and development-associated structural and functional changes of the brain which contribute to memory formation. An analysis which determines the potential activity of long-term potentiation, an activity-dependent form of synaptic plasticity is presented. The process by which neurons communicate with other neurons is also discussed. Moreover, the mechanism involving the reduced threshold for plasticity in neighbouring synapses is still unknown.
