- Abstract
Ethics is that part of philosophy which deals with good and bad or right and wrong. Basically, all the religions came for the completion of ethics and gave a clearer picture of humanity. Philosophy and ethics have two distinct spheres; Ethics pursuit of one's own happiness while philosophy has to do with other people's interest. From the very beginning of letter writing, the concepts of ethics and morality remained the integral part of Urdu letters. While discussing Urdu letters, the roots of ethics and morality come from its culture and civilization. Urdu letters not only showed and bowed towards the moral values and virtuous behavior like condolence, sympathy, encouraging the depressed, love and care, humanity and hospitality but also have philosophical discussion like time and space, humanity, current problems of era, life and death, patience and steadfast and science and religion. This article is an effort to bring forth the ethical and philosophical perspective of Urdu letter writing from its beginning.
