- Abstract
The article presents interviews with professors Herbert Braun, Rubén Darío Acevedo and Ricardo Arias about the Colombian political leader Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in which they discuss his political ideas, his oratory skills, and his family origins, which were in the lower class. His apparent political and social contradictions, as well as his references to European culture in his speeches, are also analyzed. A member of the Liberal Party, he was assassinated on the street in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1948.
