- Abstract
The article focuses on a study that assesses hydrological sensitivity to climate variability of large-scale climate drivers of monthly high and low river flow across northern Europe during the 1968-1997 period. The study is conducted on a regional basis by using cluster analysis in identifying river flow regions. It reveals that the occurrence of river flows in high and low mountain areas across northern Europe is linked with precipitation variation and large-scale patterns of temperature. It is also associated with the connection between the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and river flow.
