The article discusses the beginning of the Dada artistic movement, noting a June 23, 1916 diary entry by poet and artist Hugo Ball describing his invention of sound poetry. Other topics include the notion of an articulatory gesture in light of the thought of psychologist Wilhelm Wundt, the essay "On Poetry and Trans-Sense Language" by literary critic Victor Shklovsky, and the poetry of artist Kurt Schwitters.
