The article focuses on philosopher Stanley Cavell's autobiography "Little Did I Know: Excerpts From Memory" with particular attention paid to the importance of childhood in Cavell's work. Cavell's work is also compared to that of philosophers Ludwig Wittgenstein, René Descartes, and Jean Giraudoux, and the centrality of childhood experience in philosophy is discussed.
