- Abstract
Reports that a lack of epidemiologic data, incomplete assessment of the pathophysiologic consequences of age-related decrements in muscle mass and quality, and poor understanding of the underlying mechanisms responsible for sarcopenia in old age has limited the understanding of the extent of it on public health. How these obstacles thwarts the prevention or reversal of the disease; Results of a workshop convened by the National Institute on Aging to this effect.
