- Abstract
The paper aims to deepen the knowledges related to the cycle of frescos realized at the beginning of the Sixties of 18th century in the neapolitan Sansevero building. Commissioned by the prince Raimondo di Sangro to Francesco Celebrano, an artist who had previously worked for the famous family chapel, the cycle is based on the four seasons theme. Mindful of the European tradition of Solimena and Giaquinto, motivated by the representation of a world of characters as little boys, adults and children, in which his vein of skilled and colorful narrator finds the most correct tones and accents, Celebrano painted the swansong of a group of Neapolitan artists that, through the happy mediation of the great Solimena, still remembers us echoes of the highest Giordano. Through the intersection of bibliographical sources as accounts and memories of travelers, with archival documents, the paper will try to read the figurative world of reference and to interpret its meaning.
