- Abstract
The article discusses the lessons from genome-wide association studies (GWASs) in non-psychiatric and psychiatric phenotypes. It is stated that the proof principle for GWASs in human disease was provided by the identification of the gene encoding complement factor H as a risk locus for age-related macular degeneration. Meanwhile, big samples are needed to detect the effect sizes of GWASs.
