- Abstract
The author responds to criticism by church historian Stafford Poole made regarding his article entitled "The Origins of the Guadalupe Tradition in Mexico," which appears in this issue. Topics considered include both the devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, as well as beliefs in the traditional narrative of her appearance to Saint Juan Diego, the historiography of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the religious beliefs and devotions of the indigenous people of Mexico to Our Lady.
