- Abstract
Summary: The length‐weight relationship was estimated for four live bait fishes i.e, Spratelloides delicatulus, Doboatherina duodecimalis, Pempheris adusta, and Ostorhinchus apogonoides obtained from Agatti island of Lakshadweep, India. Fishes were collected using a lift net with a mesh size ranging from 25 mm to 30 mm, operating at the depth of 9–18 m in the nearshore lagoon waters of Agatti island from March 2020 to April 2021. The LWR parameters; 'a' and 'b' were found to range from 0.0043 to 0.0087 and from 3.117 to 3.336 respectively with a high correlation coefficient (r2). The study would allow for the conversion of length into weight and vice versa in fish stock assessment models as well as favours the estimation of biomass of these species.
