The article explores the influence of Spain and Spanish colonization on the national identities of England, France, Canada, and the United States. The author explores political influences including that of the structure of the Spanish Cortes over English courts, as well as the perspectives of indigenous people of the Americas on Christopher Columbus and the Spanish takeover of the society.
