- Abstract
The article presents literary criticism of the book "Long the Imperial Way" by Hanama Tasaki. Particular focus is given to the roles of transpacific movements, imperialism, and postwar U.S.-Japan relations in the novel. Details on Tasaki's Japanese-American identity and on critical and popular responses to the novel are presented. Other topics include totalitarianism and the Japanese occupation of China.
