- Abstract
The article discusses the events surrounding the death of Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten. Amarna has been occupied by the bulk of its population. An initial outflow of energy driven by Akhenaten had brought a significant part of the royal administration, leading to a build-up of people. On the other hand, Akhenaten created Amarna to provide the Aten with a sacred reservation, centred on a piece of desert. Amarna gave the impression that Akhenaten either ran out of energy or saw that mission was accomplished. His mission was to make a new sacred place, which is a piece of unspoilt and carefully-protected desert.
