- Abstract
The article looks at the theme of marriage in the play of William Shakespeare entitled "King Lear." It states that Shakespeare measures series of parallels such as the courtship of the character Cordelia by the Kings of France and Burgundy which created second love test. It notes that marriage is important to the principle plot of the play. It mentions that marriage and responsibilities of husband and wife are central to the play, while illegitimate marital relationships causes destruction.
