- Authors
Newman, David J; Cragg, Gordon M; Battershill, Christopher N
- Abstract
The article discusses marine drugs in recognition of Charles Darwin's 200th birth anniversary and 150 years of his published work "On the origin of species." The author said that therapeutic agents can be readily discovered from marine organisms for many clinical applications. Supply and provenance issues obstructing marine natural products drug discovery have now been resolved with help from the Convention of Biological Diversity Guideline for Access to Biodiversity and the evolution of synthetic and semi-synthetic chemistry.
