- Abstract
The authors discuss the study of M. Simard and colleagues about the possible change that can be posed by pine beetle outbreaks to the probability of active crown fire in lodgepole pine forests. They argue that the NEXUS fire modeling system used in the study was poorly suited in addressing epidemic of mountain pine beetle (MPB). They stress the great care to be exerted in selecting model inputs and assessing evaluation outputs.
