- Title
THE MAST SITE: PATTERNS IN LATE ARCHAIC FIRE-CRACKED-ROCK FEATURES IN THE GUNNISON BASIN.
- Abstract
The article presents information on an archaeological excavation conducted at the Mast site, located near the Tenderfoot site in Gunnison County, Colorado. A fire-cracked-rock was found by homeowners in 1999, and an archaeological salvage excavation was conducted prior to the feature's destruction. A team from Western State College conducted the survey and excavation. A biface quartzite tool was found, along with a quantity of debitage. Charcoal recovered from the site indicated that it was occupied sometime during the fifth to second centuries BCE.
