- Authors

- Abstract
The article discusses the migration of Poles to German through an analysis of common Polish surnames found in Germany around the year 2000. The authors begins by explaining the history of Polish migration to Germany, beginning with its origins in the Middle Ages and associated spread of Polish names through Germany during this period, along with the Germanization of Polish lands during Prussian rule in the 19th century. They go on to examine the distribution of Polish and Polish-sounding surnames throughout Germany, but note that some names cannot be distinguished from those originating from the West Slavonic language.
