- Abstract
The celebration of the 90th anniversary of the magazine "Macedonian Review" provides a good opportunity for a new, modern look and evaluation of performed in the past and present scientific and public tasks, but also for designing its future. By publishing in the magazine between the two world wars copyrighted material and analytical reviews of foreign authors' publications, a stable and irreplaceable basis was created of scientific arguments on the Macedonian issue. It becomes a significant factor in Bulgarian journalism with a positive influence on public attitudes, enlightenment and cultural life in the country and also - of foreign policy and diplomatic activity of authorities. Adopted by the government after 1944 nihilistic policy on the Macedonian issue, including the closure of the Macedonian Scientific Institute and the magazine "Macedonian Review", deprived generations of Bulgarians of the opportunity to draw knowledge and inspiration from the created so far rich scientific fund and be informed about what is happening with the Macedonians in Yugoslavia and Greece in a critical period of their history.
