The article focuses on the pervasive and pernicious uses of facial recognition technology (FRT) in both governmental and private sectors. It highlights how FRT has been adopted by various countries, with a particular emphasis on China's extensive surveillance system that relies on FRT. It also discusses the use of FRT by private companies, often in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, to surveil the public.
