- Abstract
The article focuses on the signing of Passenger Name Record (PNR) Agreement between the European Union (EU) with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in 2004 granted by Treaty of Lisbon. It mentions that the U.S. Congress passed the Aviation and Transportation Security Act (ATSA) in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks. It also mentions that European Parliament challenge the legality of PNR as a direct violation of the privacy and data protection rights.
