- Authors
Stevens, Paul
- Abstract
The article analyzes the poem "Comus" by John Milton. Particular attention is given to the character Comus' methods for trapping and retraining the character of the Lady, which are described as "magick structures." The author examines possible definitions for the reference to magic, stating that it is ultimately unified by illusion. Comparisons are made between Milton's use of language and that of author William Shakespeare. He also discusses the fancy nature of Comus' language.
