- Abstract
The article focuses on the impacts related to the revolution in Kyrgyzstan in April 2009. It says that the revolution, which ended the regime of former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev, has raised concerns to countries involved in Afghanistan due to the possible destabilisation of Central Asia and its surrounding regions. It relates that the end of Bakiev's regime has led to several demonstrations by the people from Southern Kyrgyzstan, who were asked by Bakiev for support, wherein they tried to take over some localities and attempted to create an independent state. It also mentions several reasons of the possible scenarios that imply different levels of destabilization, such as the implication of transition of rulership from authoritarian or semi-authoritarian to another.
