Inter-provincial Migration and Regional Labour Market Conditions in Canada.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article analyzes the relationships between regional as well as labor market conditions and inter-provincial migration in Canada. The hypothesis that migration occurs when difference of expected income between destination and origin less moving cost is higher than a certain level was adopted to specify a macro-econometric model that accounts for connections of economic/labor market conditions and migration during 1991-2006. Relative provincial unemployment rates comprise a key determining factor and a good predictor of inter-provincial migration.
