- Title
Tempering hope with realism: induced pluripotent stem cells in regenerative medicine.
- Authors
Fung, Ronald K. F.; Kerridge, Ian H.; Skene, Loane L. C.; Munsie, Megan J.
- Abstract
The authors comment on what is described as unrealistic public expectations for the success of human-induced pluripotent stem cell (iPS) therapy in regenerative medicine. They point out that the optimism surrounding iPS cell therapies disregards the delays in their effective translation into clinical practice. Ethical concerns raised by the clinical testing of iPS cell therapy are mentioned. They recommend exercising caution in rushing to embrace the potential of iPS cell therapy.
