- Title
Antimicrobials: Resistance is costly for Candida.
- Authors
Kåhrström, Christina Tobin
- Abstract
The article discusses the study "Fitness Trade-offs Associated With the Evolution of Resistance to Antifungal Drug Combinations," conducted by researcher J.A. Hill and colleagues, to evaluate the evolution of resistance in the leading fungal pathogen Candida albicans following combination therapy. It is noted that the study found that evolutionary constraints imposed by drug combination therapy has the potential to limit the emergence and spread of resistant fungal pathogens.
