- Abstract
The article examines the genomes of three Aspergillus species, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus oryzae, and Aspergillus nidulans, and compares the human pathogen, an important fungus and a model organism. A. fumigatus is a primary and secondary opportunistic human pathogen and a major allergen. However, A. oryzae possesses more secretory proteinase genes that function at acidic hydrogen-ion concentration. On the other hand, A. nidulans is the outlier in a phylogeny of the aspergilli.
