The article focuses on the discovery of an oak population that has leaves similar to those of Quercus parvula var. shrevei but with different margins in Mount Tamalpais in southern Marin County in California. The longest leaves of the new species were mainly on the limbs, where a few measured as long as 16 centimeters. It was determined that the new oak must be a variant of Q. parvula. The average height of the new oak is between 3 and 5 meters.
