The article presents an interview with Gerd Konzag, director of the Department of Sport Psychology and Director of the College of Sport Sciences at Martin Luther University in Germany as of March, 1989. Biographical details are provided, including Konzag's research work, educational background, and experience in athletic coaching. Konzag expresses his views on the role of sports psychologists in Germany. The authors compare Konzag's assessment on athletic coaching in Germany with coaching methods and training programs in the United States.
