Abstract
The article discusses the use of the slime produced by the hagfish in producing fabrics by using naturally occurring materials, noting the expense and lack of sustainability that comes from using petroleum-based materials. It addresses the process by which the fibers in hagfish slime can be spun into a fabric, as well as comments on the abundance of hagfish and their ability to produce quarts of slime at a time.
