- Abstract
LaF:Ce/CdSeS nanocomposites were successfully prepared by the wet-chemical synthesis method. The lattice spacing for the LaF:Ce nanoparticles and CdSeS quantum dots were 0.323 nm and 0.205 nm, respectively, while the diameter of the nanoparticles was about 12 nm. The LaF:Ce nanoparticles and CdSeS quantum dots were in very close proximity to each other. The x-ray-excited luminescence of CdSeS quantum dots was negligible; however, it improved significantly in the presence of LaF:Ce, which can be ascribed to the efficient resonance energy transfer (RET) from LaF:Ce nanoparticles to the CdSeS quantum dots in the LaF:Ce/CdSeS nanocomposite. This RET-based approach could be applied to functional nanomaterials used in radiation detectors.
