- Title
The Ethics of Audience Positioning in the Paintings of Leon Golub and the Prints of Sue Coe.
- Authors
Slowik, Mary
- Abstract
The article focuses on the works of Leon Golub and Sue Coe that share an overwhelming political subject matter. It notes that the narrative within the visual works becomes the narrative of the audience as the story within the works is played out introspectively within us as individual viewers. The narrative perspective established by the figures within the Sue Coe's work doe not acknowledge intruders and reveals a world of self-enclosed violence. However , there is no narrative closure to the event that is about to occur in Golub paintings and to the events that never stop occurring in Coe's prints.
