- Title
Safety is the mother of invention.
- Abstract
The article presents the history of the toy company Matchbox Toys. In 1952, Anne Odell, a small child in London, England, had a habit of bringing spiders to school hidden in a matchbox. To divert her from what he considered a dangerous practice, her father Jack Odell built a miniature steamroller to put in the matchbox instead. One year later, Odell and several partners began producing the steamroller and other toys commercially. Matchbox is one of the world's most successful toy companies.
