- Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the antimicrobial activity and in vitro toxicity of caffeine/AgNPs–triton X-100 and characterize the produced nanoparticle. In the present investigation, the green biosynthesis of caffeine/AgNPs with triton X-100 has been carried out, and Ultraviolet–Visible Spectroscopy (UV–Vis) analysis was done which revealed an intense surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 420 nm, thus confirming the formation of triton X-100. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study showed that the nanoparticles were spherical in shape with an average size of 16–24 nm diameter. Using the MTT assay, biosynthesized AgNPs effectively inhibited Hep-G2 cancer cells with a 60.53% reduction.. The antibacterial activity of synthesized AgNPs against a diverse range of Gram-positive pathogens was determined using disk diffusion method and the results showed that caffeine–AgNP–Triton X-100 effectively inhibited E. coli and S. aureus.
