Comments and Discussion.
- Abstract
The article presents the comments of several economists concerning the analysis of Craig Swan on the performance of homebuilding in 1969 in the U.S. Sherman Maisel looks into the problems of using econometric models for homebuilding. He stresses that in Swan's report, the variables such as household formation or vacancies that should be included for the significance in the projection aspect have not been attached. Meanwhile, William Branson identifies that the equation for housing starts based on past data failed to predict the housing starts in 1967-1969. Branson suggests that attaining the housing projection depends on the right aggregation of the federal budget policy. Moreover, discussion of Swan regarding the comments is given.
