- Abstract
The article discusses the destruction of a mural depicting activist Assata Shakur at the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) at Marquette University. Particular focus is given to the author's experience of supporting the project in her role as the GSRC's founding director and to the termination of her employment after the mural sparked media controversy. Topics discussed include white supremacy and race in higher education.
