- Abstract
The article discusses the 19th-century history of the Eagle Farm agricultural establishment in Brisbane Town, Queensland, which was formed as a means to provide grain and food to Brisbane's British colonial penal settlement. The author explains the use of the establishment for the growing of maize and potatoes as well as the use of female convict labor at the site. The later construction of an airfield on the establishment's site is also explained.
