- Abstract
The article discusses the Katyn massacres in the context of domestic politics of Soviet Union as well as Soviet occupation policy in the swaths of Eastern Europe, area under Soviet military rule during 1939-1941. It also discusses the role played by Soviet Union's NKVD, secret police organization that has executed the rule of power of the All Union Communist Party, during the Katyn massacre. It informs that the massacre has affected around 22,000 Polish military personnel and civilians.
