- Abstract
The article discusses the medieval wooden sculptures and the art centres in the Lower Rhine and Maasland region in Germany and Netherlands, respectively. Also cited are some of the regions' master artists like Arnt Beeldesnider, Dries Holthuys, and Jan van Steffeswert, the 1973 exhibition 'Rhine and Meuse: Art and Culture 800-1400,' and Michael Rief's article on the technical aspects of making altarpieces in the late Middle Ages.
