- Abstract
Each pupil with disabilities included in regular educational process, based on estimates of their special educational needs, has the right to be assisted by a learning support teacher. The aim of this study was to examine the validity of PUNinclusion Scale within the context of the Croatian educational system, determine how learning support teachers perceived their role in the implementation of the inclusive education in elementary schools and to examine the frequency of respective roles. The study was conducted on a sample of N=152 learning support teachers who work in elementary schools in the Region of Istria. The results obtained the role of learning support teachers through seven factorial dimensions: educational role of learning support teachers in the inclusive school; encouragement of socializing activities in the classroom; cooperation with all participants in the inclusive process; readiness for additional education; mutual trust; readiness for additional engagement and benefits of inclusion for all pupils. The reliability of the scale was statistically verified using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (α=.81), while the validity was tested by factor analysis (KMO=.74).
