Abstract

The book "Religion and World Politics: Connecting Theory with Practice" by Erin K. Wilson provides a critical and intersectional framework for the analysis of religion. The author deconstructs the common understanding of religion and develops an analytical framework for religion as a social phenomenon. She applies this framework to case studies in the areas of conflict, violence and security, development and humanitarian aid, as well as human rights, law and public life. The book also addresses the case of Myanmar and the situation of Rohingya Muslims, with ethnic and local political dimensions being of central importance alongside religious differences. The book is practical and suitable for readers who are not familiar with religious studies approaches. It is written in a concise and easily understandable manner.
