- Abstract
Introduction: Hirsutism can be a side effect of caused due to intake of certain drugs or due to adrenal problems. However, more often, it is a symptom of a hormonal imbalance caused by extra androgens present in the blood. Hirsutism is often seen as a sign that a person might have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Roughly 70% of people with hirsutism can end up with a PCOS diagnosis. Materials and Methods: An online questionnaire was prepared and distributed to 82 female candidates within the age limits of 15-45 years. Results: People with hirsutism did not necessarily have menstrual problems, but those with menstrual problems, namely, PCOS noticed hirsutism in parts of their body. Conclusion: There is a link between hirsutism and menstrual disorders mainly due to the elevated androgen levels in blood in menstrual disorders like PCOS.
