Controlling Sleeping Sickness--"When Will They Ever Learn?".
- Authors
Molyneux, David; Ndung'u, Joseph; Maudlin, Ian
- Abstract
In this article the authors discuss diagnostics and medications for Gambian sleeping sickness. They mention that the World Health Organization's (WHO) approval of the use of combined nifurtimox and eflornithine for treating the disease caused by Trypanosoma brucei gambiense is a good step in the process of discovering less toxic drugs to treat disease. They say that African trypanosomiasis is a failure of both public health and science.
