- Abstract
This study aims to reveal woman teachers’ perceptions of glass ceiling in detail and discover new themes toward these perceptions. The pattern of study is designed as phenomenology. The study sample consists of thirteen people working in Mersin who were selected with the purposive sampling technique. Two scales were used in study. First is the Glass Ceiling Scale developed by Eroğlu Toraman (2011), Çalışkan (2012) and Büyükyaprak (2015), the other one is the demographic scale consisting of eight questions. The study data was collected through a semi-structured interview form and evaluated with the qualitative content analysis method. The study findings were examined under three main themes and ten subthemes. The main themes include problems related to school, society and family. The subthemes are no positive gender discrimination, executive pressure, desire to be alone of women manager, union, inability to communicate comfortable with male manager, to see women inadequate for leadership, acceptance of women to be managed, being a woman, being a mother and not taking responsibility of husband.
