- Abstract
From a reverse point of view, Maria Loftus's article, "Paulin Soumanou Vieyra: Imposing His Voice Within an Imposed Value System", provides a critical perspective on two major films by Vieyra, I Une nation est née i and I Lamb i . Joseph L. Underwood, in "Paulin S. Vieyra's I Iba N'Diaye i : Seminal Modernists in Paint and Film", lays out how Vieyra's film presents an edifying portrait of Senegalese painter Iba N'Diaye. Paulin Soumanou Vieyra (1925-1987), one of the first African filmmakers, is a key component to all the early cinematographic activities in West Africa.
