The Effect of Coupling Injection Parameters and Double-Swirl Chamber on the Diesel Engine Performance.

- Abstract
In order to analyze the dynamic and emission performance of diesel engine equipped with a double-swirl combustion chamber, the effect of the start of injection (SOI), the spray angle (α), the protruded height of injector (Hinj) and the coupling of them on spray, combustion and emissions of diesel engine is investigated by using the simulation model which is validated by experiment data. Results reveal that on the condition of SOI=715∘CA, it exhibits higher peak cylinder pressure and better emission performance under a constant Hinj and α for the double-swirl combustion chamber. A narrow spray angle is suitable for the small SOI, while a large spray angle is suitable for the large SOI. If the injection timing is located at ATDC, a small α should be selected when matching the injection system and the double-swirl combustion chamber. Furthermore, the sensitivity of Hinj to diesel performance will increase with the increase in α and with the decrease in SOI.
