- Abstract
We have been watched immigration for long time as epoch-making turning point (Portera, 2003), primarily based on growing presence of Muslim peoples in the West and other impressive events as well, such as international terrorism of Islamic origin. This kind of circumstances trigger strong psychological and social effects and for this reason Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research draws up documents against the rejection of different traditions and against the racist thinking, promoting instead the dialogue with other cultures (e.g.: C.M. 26 July 1990, n. 205; C.M. 2 March 1994, n. 73) and pronouncing on specifically against islamophobia (The Italian way for Intercultural Education and the Integration of Foreign Students, 23 October 2007). The article is inserted in this frame of best practices related to studies and projects for school, that encourage employment of Islamic Art, with educational purposes, for students' cultural widening and for educational interdisciplinary usage. This article aims to offer a little insight into the culture and into the facets of Islamic Art, useful for recombining of knowledge, some of it probably taken for granted. Therefore, the final goal of the article is addressed to overcoming prejudices and stereotypes.
